EconoPump - Electric

The EconoPump represents a breakthrough in pumping simplicity.

With the EconoPump System, you use one pump to provide vacuum for each remediation well, without ever losing prime. This compact multi-well pump system will overcome many of the problems encountered with low-flow electric and pneumatic pumps. EconoPump costs less to buy... and EconoPump costs less to operate.

Installation in hours, not days.

No pump system is easier to install. There are no moving or potentially explosive parts in the well. A true explosion-proof system rating is easily achieved with the use of an EXP pump motor, above ground. There are no differential level controls. No floats. No probes. No compressors. It requires only one or two simple pipes to the wells. Just set the intakes to the desired level, plumb to the Multi-Jet Manifold, hook up power to the control panel, turn it on, and pumping starts. And keeps on pumping.

It works by itself.

The EconoPump system is self adjusting, and will not lose its prime. It allows your strongest producing wells to reach peak flow, and not be affected by other wells running slow or even dry. It also handles fluctuations in well yield from 0 gpm to maximum design flow. EconoPump completely eliminates the need for tedious adjustment and balancing of well intake valves. Required operator skill level is minimal.

Get enhanced treatment.

Injected into the recirculation loop, air can be added to the extracted water at both the point of extraction and in the Centrisep tank. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) begin to be stripped before entering downstream treatment in a ShallowTray® low profile air stripper, giving an extra margin of performance safety.

Handles solids, iron, biofouling.

The jets can handle particles 1/8" (3.2 mm) diameter while the Centrisep tank protects the pump. In addition, pumps are made with stainless steel impellers and diffusers, providing additional wear capacity against abrasives. High velocity through the process loop provides little chance for iron or slime buildup, except when intentionally induced in the Centrisep tank.

Principles of Operation.

The EconoPump utilizes a liquid-driven jet pumping system. Water is continuously circulated at relatively high pressure through multiple venturis to create a vacuum at each jet inlet port in the Multi-Jet Manifold. This creates a high vacuum that is used to lift water from the extraction wells. The jet is mounted either in the well, or above grade, depending on the drawdown level. The intake can be the end of the pipe or, if free product is present, the unique Conetrol Snorkel, which creates a suction break at the point needed to hold free product for recovery.

EconoPump is indicated for the following conditions:

  • Drawdown level 22' (6.7 m) or less. (Downhole jets can be used to pump to 75' [22.9 m].)
  • Individual well flows between 0.1 to 9 gpm (0.02-2 m3/hr), depending on total head loss.
  • Remediation sites requiring two or more recovery wells.
  • Precision drawdown required.
  • Maximize individual well yields.
  • Significant free product present in wells. The steady drawdown feature allows for precise placement of product recovery pumps and elimination of an oil/water separator.
  • System discharge is to a ShallowTray low profile air stripper for treatment.
  • Precise level control without sensors.

Like no other equipment, EconoPump technology will maintain a constant (+/- 0.1 ft [3cm]) water level, giving you a steady cone of depression. The unique Conetrol Snorkel will hold free product at a precise level continuously for easy accommodation of most hydrocarbon recovery equipment.

    Use it for enhanced pumping.

The EconoPump jets draw a -27" Hg (68.6cm Hg) vacuum and up to almost 2 cfm (3.4 m3/hr) at each well point. By sealing the well and utilizing the vacuum, more water is drawn into the well, measurably increasing recovery. One documented site has more than doubled the yield by employing this pumping technique.

    Bonus features.

The system can be used with any vapor extraction system and most phase-separated liquid recovery systems. It may even be used with shallow wells less than one inch in diameter. Additionally, the EconoPump System provides a source of high pressure water which can be used for cleaning during maintenance.
